Looks like Donald Trump has an offer to help body slam his competition for the White House.
On the set of MSBNC’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” on Monday, a panel discussed a recent TMZ report that former WWE wrestler and reality TV star Hulk Hogan said he wants to be Trump’s vice presidential running mate.
Guest host Jonathan Capehart blew off the probability of the ticket.
“It’s already entertainment watching Donald Trump run for president, and do these press conferences where you can’t look away because it’s like 15, 20 minutes of like a car accident,” he said. “But how much is this, Hulk Hogan saying he wants to be the running mate, adding to the sort of dumbing down the running for president?”
The Heritage Foundation’s Stephen Moore quickly cut in, saying a Trump-Hogan ticket is not too far-fetched of an idea.
“This is getting ridiculous, absolutely, but we are living in a celebrity culture,” he said. “Arnold Schwarzenegger was the governor of California. Jesse Ventura was the governor of Minnesota. Celebrity counts for a lot in America.”
Salon’s editor-in-chief Joan Walsh then jumped into the conversation, joking that Trump has already chosen his presidential running mate.
“Guys, we are forgetting one thing. Donald Trump has already told us who his running mate is going to be, and it’s Oprah,” she said.
“That’s another phone call I’m going to have to make,” Capehart responded. “Oprah — stand by for my call.”
